These installation instructions should be used when installing the required dual-glazed vision lite in Marshfield DoorSystems, Inc. DSR-44 and DSR-44PPFM acoustical wood doors. The following is a list of components necessary to maintain the acoustic and fire-rating of the door:
- Two pre-drilled and countersunk 11 gauge flat lite frames (shipped loose).
- ½" x 3/16" adhesive backed sponge neoprene in sufficient length to glaze vision lite as illustrated below.
- One piece of ¼" thick laminated or wire glass and one piece of 3/8" laminated glass. Marshfield DoorSystems or another source may supply glass. Check shop drawings to identify glass type and supplier. Fire-rated doors require ¼" wired glass.
- #10 x ¾" screws for fastening lite frame to door.
|
| Installation Steps: |
| 1. |
Align the lite frames on each side of the door, matching the clear openings of the frames with that of the cut out and predrill each hole for the #10 x ¾" screws. |
2.
|
Apply neoprene around the entire perimeter of the lite frames as shown in the drawing below. |
3.
|
Apply neoprene to both sides of the lite blocking. The neoprene for the lite blocking also extends around the entire perimeter as shown in the drawing below. |
4.
|
To determine which side of the door receives the ¼" thick glass, measure the distance from the lite blocking to the face of the door from both sides. The smaller of the two dimensions is for the ¼" thick glass. Lay in piece of ¼" thick glass and apply lite frame to door with #10 x ¾" long screws.
Caution: Do not over tighten fasteners. It is recommended to tighten fasteners in an alternating sequence to ensure balance of compression. |
| 5. |
Repeat process for the piece of 3/8" thick glass. |
